8 Lunar Phases and Their Meanings:

1. New Moon

The Moon is located between the Earth and Sun so it cannot be seen from Earth. This moon phase represents new beginnings.

2. Waxing Crescent Moon

‘Waxing’ signifies the Moon’s illumination is growing, and ‘Crescent’ means less than half of the Moon is illuminated. This moon phase represents intention.


3. First Quarter Moon

To be precise, half of the Moon is illuminated and the other half is under shadow. This particular moon cycle signifies decision-making.

4. Waxing Gibbous Moon

‘Gibbous’ means more than half of the Moon is illuminated. This moon phase represents refinement.

5. Full Moon

The Sun illuminates the entire moon. This particular moon cycle represents release and sealing of intention.


6. Waning Gibbous

‘Waning’ refers to the decreasing of the Moon’s illumination. This moon phase signifies gratitude.

7. Third Quarter

To be precise, half of the Moon is illuminated and the other half is shadowed. This is the opposite side of the First Quarter Moon. This moon phase signifies forgiveness.

8. Waning Crescent

‘Waning’ refers to the shrinking of the Moon’s illumination, and ‘Crescent’ means less than half of the Moon is illuminated. This particular moon cycle represents surrender.
